Not quite sure what position I'm interviewing for
A few weeks back I received an offer to interview first round with a BB for a securities sales position. I accepted the interview, but later that day emailed HR to let them know that while I was incredibly excited about moving forward, I didn't think sales was a great fit. I mentioned a few other areas of the bank, but no one got back to me.
So I went ahead with the interview and decided to stick to my guns and tell the interviewer the same thing while also apologizing for having him take time out of the day for someone seemingly uninterested. He surprisingly and graciously was thankful for my honesty and suggested that he has hiring authority for more than just the sales piece. I recieved a final round invite and will be meeting with various aspects of his team. From my understanding, this particular desk is essentially all automated on the trading side so I'm trying to understand that if not sales what else might he be thinking? Quant? Strategy, research? If I want to stay in a FO role and pay scale, what should I be looking to discuss and what sort of positions might be available.
Let me know what other information you might need to help as I'm trying to be as vague as possible while still working through the issue.
Are you a STEM major/are you good at math/are you good at programming?

How did you manage to get an electrical engineering degree with no programming experience or interest in it?... That seems strange considering how much programming is involved in elec
There was only one mandatory programming class. Other than that you also had to take a handful of classes from another engineering field. It's true that most students choose CS for this, but I chose to take mechanical engineering classes for these. Fundamentally, though EE degrees cover systems and electronics. Designing and analyzing circuits, studying electromagnetics, batteries, clean tech, etc. A lot of my studies also focused on amplifiers, speakers, and acoustics as I wrote my thesis on speaker design and protection. Really just a bunch of garbage that I don't want to do ever again. hahah
I hear you there, I have a nuclear engineering background and the industrial crap was the worst for someone planning on entering the financial industry after graduation
