NYC / Miami / LA - RE Investment Recruiters

Could anyone kindly inform me who the primary recruiters are for REIB / CRE Investing in NYC / Miami / LA?

Would be particularly interested to know if these recruitment firms are open to international candidates or have a track record of interviewing those abroad.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are a lot…

As long as you can prove to them why you can get the job / are a good candidate, and if their clients are willing to do an interview internationally / you're willing to do as well - unless you will come to that city. They will speak with you and put you up for roles. They may also think you are a great candidate, but if their client isn't willing to pay for you to fly in or you're not willing to fly in, they probably won't keep chatting with you. As much as it sucks to hear this next part - recruiters will sometimes take the path of least resistance to fill a role. Finding the candidate with relevant experience in the right city. Why? Because they need to get paid to. And they aren't paid to take chances on candidates. They are paid to source candidates who are ready to take the job right now and start tomorrow.

What rank/seniority are you aiming at? reaching out to headhunters is only really valuable at the senior level and above (10+ years exp, but sometimes down to 5+). Not to imply a bad idea at less than 5 yrs, just those jobs end on linkedin/indeed even if a recruiting firm is managing the search. They are less likely to really "talk" to you.

Still, search the WSO threads many posts on this topics with names dropped, all will work cities like NYC, Miami, LA (as those are mega markets).

The biggest player in CRE headhunting is Ferguson Partners.. start there. The big shops like Korn Ferry, Heidrich and Struggles, Spencer Stuart, etc. all do CRE and PE as well. Many exist.

Dude you say this in every recruiting thread and it's genuinely terrible advice for analysts and associates. Multiple times people have refuted you on this point.

You do not know anything about headhunting in the 1-5 years of experience range. I just landed a REPE job through a recruiter and it was not posted online anywhere.

A large portion of the top REPE associate jobs are handled this way.  All of the groups below gate keep some really solid jobs in the 1-4 years of experience range. You literally can't find these jobs anywhere online other than through reaching out to the recruiter and getting on their radar. Or by knowing someone at the company.

  • Henkel Search
  • CPI
  • Bellcast
  • SG Partners
  • RETS Associates
  • CarterPierce
  • Selby Jennings (some people talk bad about them, but they have roles for Artemis, Related and other top groups and I found them to be very professional. It depends on who the recruiter is.)
  • Glocap (their best RE recruiter left, I did not enjoy working with them)

Quick list below of associate roles that were not posted online anywhere but exclusively handled by recruiters. These are just the ones I know off the top of my head. There are many more where I didn't make the cut for an initial call
