NYC Rent

Thinking about re-signing my place next year to lock in the covid rates. Currently paying ~$900 a month for a tolerable shithole in east village (no natural light, small room, but satisfied with location / proximity to things). I'm making about ~$150k all-in so I definitely have room to stretch the rent budget, but have become accustomed to the nice savings rate.

Curious to hear what the average New Yorker on this forum is paying, and whether it's worth looking for a nicer place or staying put to keep current rent.

If you're able to hold out until the fall you can easily find a much better place (whether it be a studio, 1 BR, or shared 2 or 3BR) in EV or the surrounding neighborhoods for ~2200-2500 if you wish to go that high.
