NYU Stern EMBA Reputation?

Was curious what Stern’s EMBA reputation is on the street? Do they have good placements? How difficult is it to get in (if you don’t submit a GMAT/GRE)? Does it typically help people get promoted? What is admissions looking for in applicants (quirky non-related path or hardcore investment/finance background)? Sorry for all the questions but am genuinely interested in your thoughts.

I’ll take the first shot. I will preface this by saying that I have not gotten an mba yet but I would assume the reputation is strong given NYU’s location and representation at pretty much every firm. It does seem though that MBAs aren’t used as frequently for being promoted but that’s probably firm specific.

I can’t speak to admissions but hopefully someone else can

In another MBA program in the city and met some Stern EMBA folks - from what I've heard, they don't have the same resources as the full time MBA program in terms of career resource (they said they cannot see the job posting from the Stern career website - whoever knows what that means). The caliber seems fine as inline with MBA candidates with a bit more working experience. My sample size is small though (5-6 people).

Stern, as a graduate program, is not as strong, just because there's a higher level of competition. For undergrads, yes, Stern is popular because most target schools don't have a business school for undergrads. With the fact that it's weaker already, an EMBA from there doesn't sound that great, unless you just need it to hit a prerequisite to advance.

Why do a Stern EMBA?

If you or your employer is going to spend all this money on an exec MBA, why not do one at W or CBS? Stronger networks, better brands and commutable from NYC. I struggle to see why an exec MBA, which is already a "watered down" MBA, is a good idea outside the MBA business schools">M7. You can also throw in Yale SOM and get the Uni network. Stern is a great UG school and their FT MBA rocks too, but not sure if it's worth all that money for an exec degree.
