ODD Recruiting Situation With Headhunter - Please Guide Me
So a bit of an odd recruiting situation. A recruiter reached out to me for a role that I am super keen on. My resume's also been shared with the company by the recruiter but I am yet to hear back.
In parallel, I'd also been doing my own job hunting and came across someone's profile on LinkedIn whose background I found quite interesting and decided to reach out to this person to learn more about the company that he'd been working at. This person is a managing director. MD got back to me on LinkedIn and asked me to send my resume to him. Turns out that he works at the company which I was keen on and which the recruiter's shared my resume with. I did not know this though because he hadn't disclosed this company's details on this LinkedIn profile. It just said "Confidential"
I am obviously going to email this MD my resume too, but wanted to ask WSO that if I should disclose to this guy in the body of my email that I am aware his company's looking for an Associate and that the recruiter's shared my profile with the mid-level employee whose conducting the first round interview?? And if there's anything I should also tell the recruiter so that he doesn't feel I am trying to circumvent him by emailing senior folks at the recruiter's client?
PLEASE share your opinions with me on this as I AM SUPER CONFUSED. Thanks so much in advance!!
Also - does anyone think this proactive approach could do me more benefit than harm? Appreciate the advice and POVs in advance.
