Odds of getting admitted to a top 15 business school?
What are my odds of getting admitted to a top 15 business school? Do I have a decent shot at Wharton/Harvard/Stanford?
GPA: 3.5 from Georgetown's School of Foreign Service
GMAT: TBD, but I'm good at standardized tests (2330 on the SAT)
Work Experience: 2 years working at the White House in economics-related entry-level assistant roles
With a fairly strong GMAT score, would I have decent odds at getting into a top 15 school, or should I not even bother?
hip2Bsquare, Assuming you get that high GMAT and that there was no downward trend to your grades and good grades in quant scores, your academics are good.
Your work experience is definitely eye-catching, but it's on the low side in terms of quantity. I assume you mean two years now and 3 years at matriculation, which would mean that you have a chance, but you want to be able to show impact on the job. If you can do so, go ahead and apply. If you've done pretty typical entry-level work, then wait a year or two until you can show more growth and contribution.

Also you don't discuss why you want an MBA at all in your post, but that's important. Schools want to know why you want the degree and why you want to obtain it at their school. Clarify your answers to both question and also how your work and study to day has prepared you, when combined with an MBA from School X, to pursue the path you want to go down.
