Odds of Impeachment

More than a few dems have brought up impeachment for Trump's role in inciting today's wild action at the Capital building. Do you think we'll see escalation by Dems or will things "calm down" over the next few days? Thoughts/comments/odds welcome.

Who has brought this up?? SJW on Instagram?? No this won’t happen, dems are smarter than that. If you thought today was bad, imagine what the Trump gang would do if they impeached him

Ah, the old Mafia defense!  "Give me the protection money, and do it with a smile and thank you, or else."

Just another sign that the GOP is little more than a criminal gang out to bilk the American public.

This thread is stupid; you should delete it and be ashamed of yourself

A sitting POTUS encouraged people to storm the Capitol and you do not think impeachment should be discussed?

They don’t have to impeach him to get him out. They can also invoke the 25th Amendment:

”It allows the vice president, together with a "majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide", to declare the president "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office" in a written declaration.”

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Seems like this is somewhat of a possibility. Really hope it happens, would love to see his fat ass removed from office then sent straight to prison, but that won't happen

Impeach and convict or the 25th amendment.  The man needs to leave office

I think Trump made a large misstep yesterday. People who he was close to around the White House seemed to take an informal step away from him during this period. If his actions had been worse or if they get worse, people may take a formal step against him, but I think that is unlikely as he is out of office soon.

However, this isn't without effects. I think he previously had a decent chance running in 2024 as of last week, but now he has turned his own people against him and should have dropped the language about 'stealing the vote' as that was out of line and unprofessional.

He really shot himself in the foot yesterday for reelection strategy.

There was a topic here discussing what Trump could do in his last days in office.  Now we have seen an example of how bad it could get.  The concept of a sitting POTUS encouraging people to storm the Capitol is mind boggling.

What "escalation"?  Trump called on his supporters to storm the Capitol to end the concept of democracy in America.  There is no "escalation" after that - it's sedition, plain and simple, and anything short of someone murdering him on the street is called for.  Trump should be arrested and should spend the rest of his life in a cell, along with most of the rest of the national GOP for aiding and abetting him.
