Offer at Private Equity firm vs Elite Bank

Hi there,

I want to end up in investment banking/PE. Next year is my final bachelor's year, and I've been offered a 4 month internship from september-december at a small private equity firm that is specialized in industrial technologies (3-4 people, only using their own equity so no LBO's) of companies worth 10-100 million.

I've also been contacted by an elite bank for an investment analyst internship. I will primarily be doing programming to improve their algorithm.

I want to end up in a larger bank/bulge bracket as an investment banker/private equity associate. The offer I've gotten at the smaller PE firm is up for the taking.

At this smaller PE firm, I will get to attend meetings, get paid more than the larger bank, and I will be actually analyzing companies and deals instead of data and metrics and whatsonot. I will also be working directly with the partners and investors and therefore be learning from talents (team of about 4 people, all multimillionaires). But the elite firm has the name. It is in the City/Wall street of my country. And I'll still be an "Investment analyst" intern despite programming all day.

Dear Monkeys, I would like your opinion. Should I opt for the PE and acquire real knowledge and learn directly from talented minds, or go for the large work and become a coffeemaker/copier while making my CV extremely handsome?

Thank you in advance

If you want to do IB/PE in the future then the PE internship is a no-brainer imo. Programming and coding isn't used in PE nor in IB.
