Best Response

I would go FX derivatives. I interviewed at Bridgewater for an execution role and was completely turned off with the lack of decision making/input into the trading process. I remember asking a question about current market conditions/liquidity/volume etc and how it impacted a specific trading strategy, and the head trader responded "I don't work in research, I wouldn't know that." Although you will have a great brand name on your resume, I personally found it extremely discouraging to know that my job would consist of trading based on a set of instructions and having 0 input on the investment decision. I'm not knocking an execution role, and it may be for you, however it wasn't for me.

Have you tried reaching out to alumni etc regarding the transition from an execution role to an idea generating role? That would be my biggest concern, although your firm may be completely different from my limited experience.
