Offer timeline / feeling led on by recruiter?
I had a final round interview with a non MBB but large consulting company last week, it was pretty intensive and I felt really good about it. The next day my recruiter from within the company emailed me to confirm my citizenship and say that he heard this went very well - and nothing has come since then. I realize 4-5 days is not that much time, but if someone was going to get in touch like that I would hope for a confirming nod or something of the sort. If I do not hear from them after 6 business days do I just assume they are not making an offer or should I get back in touch with the recruiter again before that? I have a crappy TEMP position offer to do something demeaning like data entry at a BB and I have loans and other bills to pay so I will be forced to start there next week if I do not hear back soon.
Basically, for a large consulting firm, if a recruiter gets in touch the day after an interview with a pretty positive sounding email then disappears - should I consider it in the bag or prepare for a couple months of being yelled at by traders as I prep trade confirmations and the like.
Follow up with a phone call
Definitely follow up.
FWIW I got a phone call about citizenship after a final round once too; ended up getting the offer.
Had an interview with 2 alumni for an internship position with non MBB but large consulting company on a Thursday. Did not hear back for 11 days. Got an offer today :) It can take a little while.
You figure the interviewers have to travel back to there home office. They have to email the HR department. HR department has to email the recruiting person/ person in charge of hiring. The hiring person then has to email you. Also, keep in mind these people are pretty busy. The consultants work 60+hr weeks. the HR department is in the middle of intern/hiring season. Have hope and be patient I'd say as long as its not over 2 weeks I wouldn't assume they are not making an offer, especially if the person you know in the company gave you such good feed back.
Call your recruiter, it won't hurt you chances and will stop your worrying.
