How to hurry up a job offer
Hello monkeys.
Today I got a first interview in a well respected local company here in Chile for a job in Investment Banking. The problem is that on Monday, the MD of another company will have an interview with me for (probably) give me a job. The thing is, what can I do to hurry up the interviews with the local company and also ask the MD to give me a couple of days while I'll see if I get another offer? Is it ok to ask for a couple of days because I'm in other processes? What happen if the MD only gives me one day? am I screw?
Thanks in advance.
Any thoughts?
Assuming you get the offer, you can try to get the other firm to hurry up by letting them know when you have to give an answer by. Generally, you'll have a couple of days to make your decision, and there's no guarantee that you get the offer the same day as the interview (although that is generally the case). Also, you don't even have either offer in hand yet, so I would stop worrying about hypoteticals and start worrying about the interviews themselves.
Good luck!
Hey thanks.
I had the interview today and I got the offer. So far so good, I'm just curious about what the local company could offer me, but if it's the same, I stay in the first one.
Congrats on the offer! Since you already seem to have your mind made up, looks like you don't have much to worry about.
Congratulations! Glad everything turned out fine for you.
How did you land the interview?
it's a good problem to have, competing job offers in this market is an achievement.
it is definitely a testament to your abilities. good luck on your first job OP.
Offer Timeline - Is it possible to get an offer in under a week? (Originally Posted: 11/12/2017)
I have a job offer that expires this Friday, but I want to continue recruiting till the last minute. It's a job I'm excited about, but I think I still may be able to do better.
In your experience, if I submitted a few more applications this week and contacted their respective HR departments, could I get an interview and receive an offer before Friday?
Also, is it a bad look to sit on an offer for over 2 months and then wait to accept right before the deadline?
It would be super tough to go through a final round by this Friday if you haven't even applied yet.
Depending on the offer you have and what else you'd like to apply to, it might make sense to keep recruiting after accepting the offer. There are a lot of considerations to take into account before reneging though, and it definitely is not something to take lightly.
If you've had this offer for 2 months, why are you only reaching out to other places you'd like to work now?
Accelerating offer? (Originally Posted: 11/14/2013)
I received an offer at one firm early in the recruiting process, but I am waiting on another firm to reply. Deadline for the first firm is approaching. How should I convey to the other firm that I need to reply to the other firm soon?
I would let them know you have another offer and need an answer. If they don't give you an answer, accept the other offer and be done with it.
firm taking over a week to decide on offer (Originally Posted: 02/05/2014)
I had an interview last week and HR said they are still deciding. Am I placed on a waitlist? I heard they usually tell you right away if you got an offer.
Sometimes you hear right away, sometimes you don't. No one here is going to be able to give you an answer to this question.
Unless this is a boutique without a dedicated HR function, if you haven't heard by now, it's a rejection or on hold. Considering HR is replying to you, I'm assuming hold. Don't hold your breath either way.
also, either way, just assume you didn't get it. that way it'll be a nice surprise if you do
.
If this is a small group within an elite boutique with one HR person dedicated to this particular group, and it is late in the recruiting season (full time), does this mean they can afford to take their time?
