Offer with no Documentation?
Last week I got a verbal SA offer from a boutique firm and I accepted. The firm said that there was not really an official process for documentation or anything like that (it's unpaid). Should I cover my bases and ask for an e-mail offer or something? The firm said that we'd be more in contact as summer gets closer but my friends are saying I should request official documentation. What do you think?
If they ain't paying you, what do you need the docs for?
If all else fails and something goes wrong just show up and be like bitch I dont need documents to work here.
Send an email asking when you should start, and do it in an offhand way after bsing about something else. This will serve as documentation....
I worked without documentation in both the finance industry when I was starting out and in other roles before that. I knew it was a reputable firm, so not a dealbreaker. Everything worked out fine (and you have an easy out if anything goes wrong.)
Yeah, my unpaid over the summer had no paperwork until the job started. That was a non-disclosure agreement and regular stuff so I could look at financial statements and be privy to M&A deals. I never signed anything about actually being hired though.
