Office Beautification Process
I once worked for a firm where the culture was borderline immoral. Between the everyday white lies to clients and an unusually heavy focus on production quotas, everything about the firm was off. Basically, I would rather be repeatedly kicked in the nuts than attempt to start my career there.
But every morning, I would quell my alarm and think of the one aspect of work that kept me clocking in on time: my downright beautiful coworkers.
The firm had a variety of women similar to PornHub’s categories section, it was truly a fantasy arrangement of women. I soon realized my sole motivation for work was a common ground for all my male colleagues. It then struck me- was hiring beautiful women planned by the firm’s overlords to keep revenue-producing employees engaged?
I recently heard the term OBP, Office Beautification Process, and it could not be a more fitting description. You constantly hear of Silicon Valley tech firms with beautiful campuses and cubical decorating contests. You hear how they only use Mac’s and have walls painted with IdeaPaint. But when financial institutions are desperately trying to cut unnecessary aesthetic enhancement costs, why not spice up your back/middle office with gorgeous women?
Perhaps the movement has already started, but I say companies need more recruits from Arizona State or Florida State. In my opinion, the firm would not have to pay them all that much, but it would surely keep Type A personalities in the FO motivated at a completely different level. What are your thoughts on OBP to strategically engage employees? Which Wall Street firms are filled with beautiful women, or ramping up the OBP?
The first thing that came to my mind when I read the FP was Mad Men.
Would they be doing all-nighters too?
lol
The reason those women get hired is because the individuals doing the hiring share your line of thinking. They're not doing it for you - they're doing it for themselves - but I guess everyone wins.
In reality, if the overlords actually considered the legal ramifications of sending beautiful women into a pit of salivating analysts, they'd probably hire the exact opposite.
Well, whether hiring managers are doing it to boost office morale, or out of their own egotistical pleasure boost, it's happening. According to "the beauty premium," as economists have dubbed it, these attractive individuals are not only encouraging employee productivity, but they also earning more on average than their equally (or even more) qualified, "less appealing" counterparts. Something to think about when applying for your dream job. Like Sovjet said, sounds like a win-win situation to me.

absolutely great find.
idk about that, but when you're working 100 hours a week with little female contact outside work, anything will start to look good.
You make it sound like prison.
Also, physically attractive people regardless of gender do better than their uglier counterpart in terms of career success. However I doubt any firm has a hooter's like hiring policy when it comes to back/middle hiring due to the obvious liability that could ensue.
that chick in the picture is ridiculously gorgeous.
i think i'm in love... is that a stock image?
UPDATE: i found another pic! she is a stock photo model.

when i did a 'small' (uber small) consulting practice in college, i hired interns that met a standard for intelligence. Then, it was looks. Yes. Looks sucks. We need to be equal opportunity, yada yada yada, PC BULLSHIT.
At the end of the day, having hot women, and good looking people on your team helps, especially if you are a client facing business. With a client facing role. It would make people want to deal with you more, and wont mind your company.
I can still remember the time I had a modelmayhem model coming with me to a meeting. and all the guys were basically oogling and ogling... hahha.. (not so much focused on the deal at hand)
but yes. there is definitely a beauty premium, and just by looking at where my fb female friends ended up, if your only semi qualified, but definitely look good. you get to do booz allen, higher tier. If you don't look that good., but are samely semi qualified, they ended up at say: deloitte, or accenture. Or something lower tier. It's clear.
But yes--you do on average pay 'more' for a similarly qualified candidate over a looks premium. (because other employers are wanting this person too)
And, at the end of the day, it comes down to this: "If you can't even take care of your own body/looks/appearance, how can I trust you to take care of my business/portfolio/deal?" You can't have some person who's a fuckin fatty/ugly bitch, who can't even control what they put in their body, to rely on them for some big shot deal, can yoU?
Yeah but what if I'm "Too good looking for the office"
Hold on, I'll make a thread about it...
I have a serious question for all of you. I am a rather handsome man (both in looks and in personality.) I worked in high fashion as a runway model. I m currently 6'1, 250lbs. However, I am very lean and at around max 10% body fat, which accentuates my strong jawline. I worry that my overly attractive looks will not bode well with company culture. After leaving an interview, I was told that I have a "sexy" handshake (I received and accepted their offer.) Not to sound conceited, but I have honestly never come across anyone even close to as attractive as I am at the office, or even walking around down town. I was being silly before about the personality comment, but I am an attractive guy and present myself well. I don't look even remotely out of shape or ugly (some of the shorter, less cute guys can look like that in a dress shirt.)
This a clumsily worded post but I suppose my main question is if anyone has witnessed any type of discrimination towards gorgeous, wonderful guys at the office. Is this something I should be concerned about? I suppose I could eat poorly, maybe try to develop some acne and stop tanning, (I'd truly rather not) if it would help me fit in. Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated.
.
Wouldn't your beauty work to your advantage? I guess most firms want to portray their business as well-shod and a handsome coworker would, at least subtly, indicate this.
troll indeed:

wow...word for word......Just opens accounts, gets some bananas then bam!!! trollfest!!
In china, when hiring secretaries, they hold modeling competitions
i remember this post from last year because that chick in the stock image is so hot.
does anyone know her name? :-/
Why the hell are there stock photos of a guy about to sexually harass a coworker?
On one side I would welcome beautification in the office so I can be reminded of and have interactions with one of the reasons I'm working so damn hard, but on the other side, working with beautiful women around can be really distracting
i'd add san diego state to that list too...
When I grow up, I want to be an office beautification consultant.
Sounds like a good idea in order to keep SAs motivated to work there.
I'm at a west coast firm that hires a lot from Arizona schools - you're absolutely on point
