Ok to use work email to communicate with headhunters?

Hi,

It's my first year as an IB analyst. I was recently contacted by headhunters for fall 2010 PE recruiting but they've been sending applications/forms to me to my work email (but I've been replying them with my personal email just in case). Has this happen to anyone? Am I being paranoid here or is it widely expected that analysts will usually leave after their 2 years so it's okay to let people at your firm know that you are going through PE recruiting? I don't think so, but if that's the case why are headhunters so comfortable with communicating with me via my work email? Don't our emails get monitored constantly?

Thank you!!

At my firm it's not a big deal at all - everyone knows the analysts leave after two years, so nobody cares. Two things though:

1.) Don't use work email if you're discussing your plans to leave your bank early with a recruiter. That's a good way to get dismissed now.

2.) Don't take phonecalls from recruiters at your desk if it's not private. They can often ask questions like "what was your bonus last year" that you may not feel comfortable answering where everyone can hear you.

I use my work email, but I also from time to time port over my address book to my personal email so I never lose contacts, in case what antmavel says happens (hopefully it won't).

With all the firewall crap we have, it's tough to get your personal email working through google/yahoo. Just easier to stay in touch with recruiters with the work address.
