One Week After Superday?
Here's my situation:
- superday was 5 days ago.
- Sent out "thank you" emails the day of the interview. Got some "thank you" responses back.
- No response since then.
At the 1 week mark should I call HR back? What if I don't have any other outstanding offers? What to do from here?
Wait until the end of the week, then send a polite email asking when to expect a response from them, assuming you didn't already ask that at the interview. Be sure to throw in a little reference to a good conversation you had during the interview and let them know of any new developments on your end.
Good luck man!
hey sry to hear this is still stretching for you. i think its reasonable to email HR at this point, thats their job, right?
what country? IB or S&T? People still recuritng for F.T ?
USA. Lateral hire IBD.
Unless the position is for an immediate start, five days after your Superday is too soon to reach back out to them. I suggest you wait a week at the absolute minimum, and only then reach out if you have a good reason for needing an immediate response. Sounds to me like you're just eager - I suggest you relax and wait another week.
One week after final round (Originally Posted: 04/09/2013)
I had a final round interview with JPM last monday and was told I should hear back by the end of that week once she gets everyone's transcripts.
Should I follow up with her or keep waiting? The anticipation is killing me.
Banks rarely stick to their timeline unless you have a hard deadline (i.e. exploding offer). I'd probably wait till next Monday and reach out... Either way it's a tough situation since some banks are just awful about outright rejecting candidates. I think it took 3 months after my first round with a bank to get an actual rejection.
Over a week since superday...havent heard back (Originally Posted: 02/24/2009)
It's been about a week and a half since i had a superday at a regional office. After the superday the firm did not specify the time frame in which they would get back to us. However, from everything I've read and experiences from friends it seems as though offers are usually extended within 3 days. I was wondering if i should email them inquiring about my status and what i should say i dont want to do anything to damage my chances if they havent made up their minds yet.
keep waiting...if they want you, they won't forget to extend an offer. there is nothing that you can say at this point that would change your status...good luck
You need to follow up sooner. Email at the least, but you might want to get in the habit of calling as its easy to avoid emails. It may not have an impact on their decision, but I would suggest staying more on top of it in the future. After a couple days, I dont think there is anything wrong with calling to check your status.
At smaller regional offices, directors travel more and the decision makers might have been unexpectedly busy. Over a week though is getting less and less likely. I would keep searching and be a little more aggressive.
is it really too late? Its only been 11 days...i interviewed on the 13th?

In my experience from junior year, banks extended sa offers in 1-2 days. I even heard others speak of an SA offer within a few hours of the superday ending. For full-time, some banks took longer to extend offers, but investment banks are quick to make decisions on hiring. There really isnt much to worry about, keep looking while waiting to hear back from this bank. My advice was just trying to encourage you to be a little more aggressive. When I was interviewing, I was like you and worried too much about following up. Calling and being proactive, especially with smaller, tightly knit groups isnt going to hurt.
is it possible that i am an alternate and they are waiting to give me decision based on if someone else accepts or reject an offer?....also would you recommend a call or email?
