only apply to divisions that contacts are in?

Should I only apply for divisions my contacts are in?

Like everyone else, I want an BB IBD job. But I'm willing to take any front office job over Peace Corps.

I failed miserably at summer recruiting because I told all of my contacts to forward my resume to IBD, which I'm beginning to think is useless because if they dont work in IBD, they have no pull.

Would it be a better idea to just say "hey PWMer MD neighbor, here's my resume to your group."

This is a strategy of last resorts where I'm happy to take whatever I can get.
