Opportunities to Lateral

Hey everyone, hope you are navigating this crisis well. Long story short, a couple months ago I joined a MM (pretty middle of the road MM) in their TMT group in NY. However, the NY group exclusively works in Media and Telecom and I want more tech exposure and want to lateral some time in the near future to a BB or EB group. I know the lateral market is tough rn, but I was curious if anyone had pulled off a lateral during a time of recession?

I fully recognize a lot of people are merely looking to keep their jobs and don't mean to come off as greedy, I am just curious whether this is something possible or will I have to wait it out some time (at least a year).

Thanks!
