Opportunity for getting IB internship in my senior year?

Hi everyone,
I'm a rising international Junior at the University of Southern California, and the way things stand right now I think my chances at getting an investment banking internship is slim. I will go into Fall 2021 with a gpa of 3.1/3.2 (I'm taking a class this summer). My covid year and a half was torrid, and I had my fair share of really low lows, and mentally I was finished, with my mom going into hospital and on oxygen for a long time with covid and myself struggling against anorexia and my own mental shortcomings. I had entered college with promise, I think, with a 35 ACT and having got into the toughest consulting club in the university with less than a 3% acceptance rate, before I left to (ironically) focus on my grades and have the college life I wanted.
Right now, I managed to pull some strings and get an internship at a boutique IB overseas, but the way things stand I see a difficult year coming for me recruitment-wise. What, if any, investment banks might think about taking on an intern in their senior year? Are there any structures in place for that? Do I need to repeat a year? How would that work? I have many questions.

I only know one person who was able to pull off a senior year summer IB internship and it was for extenuating circumstances, or so they say. Banks will not let you do this, as you have to graduate with your SA class. Anyways, you have a shot but your best shot is to "pick up the phone and start dialling". Seriously, start emailing and networking with people ASAP as most recruiting is either done or ramping up quickly. Considering you come from USC, you have a decent chance if you can spin your GPA well. All you need is an interview.
