Optimizing Senior Year of College
Hey all,
I know this might be a repetitive question, but I have not been able to find a helpful enough thread. I will be starting full-time next summer (end of June) as a first year IB analyst at a MM firm. I've been brainstorming all sorts of things I can do the rest of this semester, winter break, and the time between graduating and starting. I know "enjoy and have fun" should be a priority and it absolutely has. However, I really really want to make the most out of this unique time. Here's some ideas I have thought about:
-
Study for GMAT/CFA
-
Travel - smaller trips in the U.S. over winter break/thanksgiving break? Curious about opinions on world travel from when I graduate and start. Do I travel all over the place, or actually live somewhere abroad for a month and get a cool job/volunteer experience
-
Cool internship/job at startup/hedge fund/government over winter break or spring semester
-
Pick up a skill - could be related to investing or something completely different
Looking back on your career and life, what would you have done if you had the chance to redo your senior year of college?
I would love a mix of answers that address both fun stuff, and other things that would have been beneficial for your long term career. I think I want to pursue b-school/law school or go to a hedge fund/investment firm after IB.
I hope this is an interesting topic to discuss!
well those are all horrible ideas, considering those can be done whenever and your time in college is expiring, besides traveling maybe, but who the hell needs advice on how to travel?
Oh I don't know, maybe someone had an amazing experience visiting x country doing x? And they have a great suggestion. Not sure how that could hurt. And I would disagree that these can be done whenever. There is an advantage to doing some of these now.
