Options for career change
Hi, I finished a degree in Chemistry and am looking to switch careers. I was wondering what the best way would be to enter a business field(possibly the shortest). I was thinking of getting a second bachelors in economics but that seems like a waste of time. I was also thinking about a Masters in Management but I don't want to leave America and there aren't many reputable ones here. What is the shortest possible route for entrance into the business world? I really don't want to spend much more time in school. Do you think its possible to enter business with a chemistry degree(possibly something like a data analyst)? I feel like it will be impossible due to the fact that there would be a large pool of applicants more qualified then me due to having a degree in the required major(Although I haven't really tried yet).
Take a look at positions in data analytics, product management, marketing, sales, operations management, or financial planning & analysis (fp&a) or whatever business functions within pharma, industrials or oil & gas where your chemistry background while not being used everyday will at least have some relevance to the industry you're in (i.e. you may not be on the engineering or technical side, but with your chem background it's not going to completely alien to you when dealing with both engineers and their work/research like it would for say a pure business or lib arts major - gives companies more comfort even at the entry level position that you can get up to speed on the industry quicker).
