Oxford MSc Financial Economics vs. LSE MSc Finance
Hi. Is anyone here that has done MSc Financial Economics at Oxford or has heart any opinion about this programme? Some people say it is too theoretical. Any information/opinion will be useful. I have received an offer but I am still waiting to hear from LSE. Personally I like Oxford more but apparently LSE has bigger network in finance and their course is more established.
I know a few guys who did the Oxford program and they all got very good jobs in London i.e. BX PE, Lazard etc.
Seconded. Oxford MFE sent people into top PE directly in the past. Have not encountered such an example for LSE, even though it's a very good program.
LSE's MSc Finance & Private Equity did. Placement wasn't as "prestigious" across the board as from Oxford but still, PE is PE.
Could you mention their previous work experience?
Don't know from the top of my head but a couple of them did internships at BBs beforehand
Thank you guys. I accepted the offer for MFE Oxford. Mainly because of: -brand and the "Oxford" atmosphere -apparently the course is much more intense -some economics modules -just 80 students whereas at LSE there is a few finance-related courses from which people often apply for the same jobs -Oxford Finance Lab (modelling workshops and case-studies with companies)
Just interested - did you apply for the Cambridge MPhil Finance too or just LSE/Oxford?
No, didn't apply there. I was discouraged by very small class and extermely thoeretical approach. Moreover, I read somewhere that most people go onto Phds after...
