Part-Time MBA, Houston - Rice or Texas MBA @ Houston for IB/PE?

The title speaks for itself mostly, but I have been accepted to the Rice MBA for Professionals program and also the weekend Texas MBA @ Houston program. I currently work in oil and gas for a small PE backed start-up and have very solid IB and PE connections in Houston (built through working relationships). I would like to at least have the mobility/opportunity to switch over to Energy IB or PE in the future if that is something I still want to pursue in a couple of years.

So, my question is this: Which program would you pick? With Rice, you have all of the resources available in Houston, a smaller but very tight knit alumni community, and an upcoming B school. With the Texas MBA at Houston, you get the Mccombs name and great professors as well.

Thoughts?

Thanks Cartwright - that is about what I thought, especially since I will be using my connections rather than career services to make the move. I am probably leaning toward Rice, I was extremely impressed during my interview (facilities, students, etc).

Street Smart:

OP, curious to know which one you chose and what your experience was like.

My main hang up is that neither program offers a Finance concentration (at lest not from what I could find via the website), but if I could supplement via "elective courses" that would be great.

Rice offers a finance concentration.

The evening students have a much better mix of electives. The weekend students only have 1-2 options each term for their electives in their second year. UT doesn’t offer electives for their Houston program.

It's harder to get into IB as a part time at Rice but doable. There's at least a few who have done it the last few years. You will have to work extra hard through the recruiting process in networking and whatnot. BTW, Rice absolutely crushed it this year with at least 19 IB summer associate offers, so you'll be coming in after a strong showing (though neither of the part time guys going after IB got an offer, unfortunately).
