pass no pass grade for MBA and fall recruiting

I hope you guys are having a good week so far.
I have a little concern I would like to share with ya'll. I already checked the past threads on this topic, and it seems to me that suggested solutions varied case by case.
I just had a midterm for my corporate tax class. I felt extremely sick and consequently i feel like I performed rather poorly. Tomorrow is the last day to change the grading method (p/np). I already e-mailed the instructor to see where I stand, but chances are he will not answer my inquiry until Monday.
Currently, I have 3.85 and am a rising senior. I wanna be a strong candidate for Fall recruiting, and the last thing I want is a C on my record (or worse a failing grade). It is very possible that I did well on the midterm; that's the worst part. Very likely, I will have to make this decision without knowing my midterm grade.
FYI, midterm is 40% of the grade and the rest final.
I know I can do well on his final because I took this individual tax class and got an A.
What would you do if you were me?

3.85 does not equal slacker in most people's eyes. I doubt they will go through your transcript with a fine toothed comb.

Dude they don't check your transcript until after they extend an offer. Absolutely no one cares. If you have the option, it would be retarded not to take the P/NP option.
False, the MBB I'm interning with asked for transcripts along with the resume drop before any interviews were held
how about this. My friend recommended waiting till monday to see the result, drop the class and get a w if it's bad, and take it during Fall. Does this sound like a worse choice? How bad does a W look?

...when i was your age i was a political science major, 100% going to law school, and going to be a lawyer and kill people for money. 6 years later im in business school and headed into investment banking.
pretty sure i took accounting pass/fail and got a C in finance...i was already accepted to law school, it was my last semester and i didnt care...and you know you what, no one else has cared either.
so calm the fuck down and enjoy college.
A P/NP on a transcript looks far less suspicious than a W. You can explain the one, but the other automatically means you had to pull out because you thought it would be so bad you didn't want anyone to see it.
some firms do not even bother reviewing your transcript so if i were you i wouldnt worry too much

Yes, maybe if you are recruiting for an accounting or finance position in the next 6 months, and they happened to ask your grades in individual classes, they would inquire regarding the pass/fail...but after that it.does.not.matter.
But you seem to have already made up your mind that it does matter and will follow you for the rest of your life, so do whatever you want. I'm sure there is some online gaming community missing a member, so get on it.
