Pattern between Copper Prices and Construction spending

Hello Guys,

Please advice on this:

How do i find a historic pattern between and construction spending... I am trying to forecast prices for copper prices.

and if I come up with the number how do i adjust in to my sales and balance sheet (inventory) since copper is part of raw materials?

Thanks a bunch!!!

-Research yearly housing data (cost, growth..) -Research yearly copper prices (if not find another commodity with strong correlation and substitute appropriately) -Plot your findings -come up with an estimate of the relation between the housing data and copper data - recognize current trends in both housing and copper prices -use that estimate in you calculation of future trend for copper prices

hope this helps

I am sorry im weak at this but how do u run a regression and a correlation... I know the funtion in excel but... an example would be great..

does an y body have an example of similar case.. sorry for being a pain.. just trying to learn..
