PE Associate Offer - Relo Package
Hello,
I am considered to be in the interview process with a SWF fund for a PE associate position. One of my biggest concerns which I have not been able to find an opportunity to ask my headhunter is relocation assistance.
These headhunters call people from all over the places in the US, and in my situation, the potential offer is in the San Francisco. In your experiences, will the headhunter work with their client to offer relocation package? or broadly speaking, does a PE fund offer a relo package to out of state candidates?
My family will have to quit their jobs, and we all have to move together. I really like the firm, and the SF culture. It is crazily expensive, and I will be driving 45 minutes to work. It is doable, but housing is so expensive.
I am just curious how others managed to move to a different city and work for a PE fund. Thank you!
Hi Analyst 1 in IB-M&A, don't worry, the WSO Monkey Bot is here.... I'm hoping one of these links will help find your answer:

If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
I truly appreciate anyone who has to relocate and bring their family members with them sharing their thoughts. Thank you!
Imho, just give it to them straight. Explain your situation and how costly it will be for the whole fam to move to SF, propose that the firm chip in a little bit to help you settle down. They will understand how committed you are to the offer and most definitely will give you a relo package.
I will definitely have this conversation with the firm. Thank you!
Idk about SWFs, but traditional PE firms don't typically give relocation packages at the junior level. Perhaps a signing bonus.
Thank you. I suppose they think these junior people are single and can squeeze in a 500 sq feet apartment.🥲
We have at our PE firm a person who seconded from our LP, a SWF. He was offered a relo package (for himself only since his family is big), twice the salary (he''s working two positions at the same time) and 3 return tickets to his home country on holidays.
Not sure if the same package would be offered to an Analyst tho, this person is Senior Associate.
