PE Business Dev Exit Opps??!
Hey guys! Recently graduated and have been interviewing with multiple PE firms for BD roles and was wondering how difficult the transition would be to banking/investing roles from BD?

BD is the exit opp; it can be a pretty cushy gig at the higher levels. I've also seen people switch between BD and sponsors coverage on the banking side.

BD elsewhere. A tech sales BD manager can rake in ca$h with a generally high WLB. Pretty cushy gig with standard advancement milestones, but performance-based ones as well. Could then get an MBA and lateral into consulting, BD at a bigger firm, tech PM, or even PE again.
I want to make something clear. While Tech Sales, BD At certain F500's (if it's partnerships based) can rake in a lot of dough, you won't necessarily be able to lateral to the equivalent level of seniority if the firms verticle/industry is completely different. Because they want people who can hit the ground running (you obviously can, but if you don't know the niche at all it may set you back). Which if why if you do leave for tech sales or any form of BD, do it as early as you can (unless you focus on cloud, and are leaving for a cloud company etc).

No real exit op, more BD at other PE firms, maybe a chance to starting doing some IR work and shift into that. BD at investment banks or really just any general sales role. BD is essentially sales.
It will not help you at all for any investing roles and it will be very tough to switch if that's what you're thinking about.
