[PE Compensation - Crisis Impact] What to expect?
I saw our fellow friends from the IB forum getting very nervous about it. I was wondering what the impact of a major recession for PE bonuses over 2020 would be. Being quite junior, I never experienced anything like this before. I guess it varies a lot and depends on (i) fund size, (ii) investment focus and (iii) corporate policy.
I very well understand why IB bonuses may be cut / cancelled as their business might be heavily impacted. However, I am not sure if there is a rule for PE regarding crisis / bonus as the impact is very different (postponement of sale process, many acquisition opportunities coming at fairly cheap prices etc.).
What are your thoughts?

I think junior level PE folks might still get some sort of bonus because of the management fee the funds charge (more tied to cash instead of carry).
