PE Firms w/ Dog Friendly Offices

Anyone work at a PE firm that has dog friendly offices? Obviously probably does not apply to MM / UMM / MFs, but was wondering if anybody works at a smaller firm that does, specifically in the Bay Area.

Guessing the answer is no, but still curious.

I'd imagine the only place you could get away with this is at a family office or a super relaxed VC firm. Firm would probably have to be pretty small too.

I work at a pretty laid back firm and I couldn't imagine having dogs in the office. At the end of the day, it just isn't professional. We have LPs in from time to time, prospective investments, portco execs, etc and while I personally love dogs and so do most people, I think it gives off too casual of a vibe.

Frankly, I'd also judge someone for even having a dog if you're a relatively junior level PE professional. What happens when you need to take a last minute diligence or sourcing trip? Working early/late? Unless you have a significant other or family to help take care of them, I'd subtly question how much time you could really give.

Nothing against dogs, I had one growing up and would love to have one now, but it would add hassle and stress and would definitely distract from the day to day.

Many day care places offer overnight boarding and I have a bunch of friends in the area who help dog sit as well, which solves the last minute trips problem. Also dog walkers / Wag that I use every once in a while when I can’t make it home in time to let her out.

Current shop is ctually quite established, my team is just very flexible with people working remotely so it’s definitely doable under the right circumstances. It hasn’t been a problem (top bucket reviews) and I’ve had my dog for 10 months now. One of my fellow associates has a dog as well actually.

But yeah, figured it would be a looonnnngggg shot since I’ve never heard of dog friendly PE firms personally.

Is there a specific personal reason why you want to take your dog to work? As a dog owner myself, I would love to bring my dog to work but the issue is if someone has an allergic to a dog, the firm is going to ask you not to bring your dog. If you really want, you get your dog registered as a service dog which is kinda bending the rules. Also, I agree, don't state specific things that will make you identifiable. We are here to help and not to criticize. Good luck friend.
