PE - In DUBAI

After Abraaj Scandal, the PE scene has been fucked up... (Google the company)

However, I am interviewing with Mega Fund there and I am not sure if the landscape is good as they told me their regional office usually handles Capital Raising....

Any Thoughts ? I just do not want to regret moving there.

you said it yourself - that office handles fundraising. There’s nothing wrong with doing PE in dubai or any other place for that matter. But do recognize that MENA is a much smaller PE market than North America or Europe. There are a few focused firms in the area that focus on doing traditional PE there - Abraaj was the big one and was actually doing great on returns (unfortunate they ended up being fraudulent). I also would not recommend you start in Dubai, or any emerging market for that matter, your PE career if you have the chance to start in the US or Europe first. But it depends what you’re looking for. If you have family in the region, or you value that life style, that’s fine, but you should assume that you’ll be there for a long time because it is extremely difficult to move from doing PE there to the US.
