Which banks already have SA positions open? Just checked most BB sites and they have nothing.
Non America and some USA SA apps are open for BBs
I know at least Credit Suisse and Moelis are open

Yeah that's a good question. If they do rolling, I would assume its better to apply early? But im not sure.

I've been to some websites and they've already started accepting internship applications for next summer. I was wondering if its too soon to start applying, even though they said the sooner the better. If you apply this early, are you limiting your options when it comes to the firms you could intern at (assuming you interview and get an offer)
Assume you applied for a summer 2012 internship now, how soon would they expect you to commit to accept an offer?

You are getting way way way too far ahead of yourself. Banks have to finish FT recruiting season before they think about SA recruiting. And don't worry about getting an offer "too early".

Guys, I'm reading threads where people already got multiple summer BB SA offers?
How is this possible when I thought SA recruitment hasn't even started?
I also heard that London SA IBD recruitment has definitely started and is late into the process because they are finished in Dec. so they're taking applications right now.

It is very early for SA applications. Most are due in late January. Use this time to network and build a network so that when you do apply your application will not enter a black hole.
Yes but only for the US. I was told that for UK SAs, applications are due NOW in October/Sept. and they finish in January.
Is this true? Also for US applications is there any real point in submitting the application early? I know many BBs have started accepting applications around now.
Not sure about the U.K so I cannot comment. However, in the U.S, submitting an app early doesn't really help at all.
A friend at my school already has an offer for a Summer MM but he was accelerated due to a study abroad for next semester. Maybe that's why?
^ above. I heard only some firms do that like Goldman. Jefferies, MMs usually don't do that apparently. I'm actually going abroad too gah. I hope this doesn't disqualify me for regular US recruiting in Jan.

I am studying an MSc at a target in London and I was wondering when is the best time to apply for summer internships at PE firms here given that they don't usullay offer them. From what I have read they have a less structured recruiting process than IBs.

But why not apply as soon as possible to get it out of the way? We review resumes all at once for both FT and SA hires... some firms could review them on a rolling basis I suppose. I guess if you want to handle the case where they do look at them on a rolling basis, you should apply as soon as possible.

The vast majority of the IBD apps on my school's career services website weren't due until around now (1/24 - 2/1 were the due dates of around 70% of them). It amazes me how so many people already have interview invitations and have even gotten offers already. For you guys, when were the due dates of your applications? Did many of you apply much earlier than the due dates? My school's interview schedule shows most of the on campus interviews occurring during the second week of February...
You're at Princeton, relax. You'll get access to the best, and they'll come to you. Better situation than having to actually bust your own ass to get what you want.

I'm having a difficult time gauging the timeline on a lot of these applications. I'm wanting to do public finance SA, and it seems like the bigger players are open now (JPM, Barclays, Morgan Stanley, Citi, etc.) When do they usually close applications? I can't seem to find any dates..
Also, it seems like a lot of the MM banks haven't posted their applications for 2015 summer yet? Anyone know when they typically open/close? I'm wanting to wait a bit into November to submit my application because I want to wait until the end of my current internship so I can have more on my resume. I'm a sophomore looking to apply for S&T and maybe banking summer internships at BB's. Usually, applications are accepted within a given time period (usually a month and a half). Is there any advantage in applying early? Are applications judged on a rolling basis or do recruiters wait till after the deadline and then evaluate all the applicants together?
This is specifically for S&T and IBD summer internships at BB's.

Does it help to send applications early for summer internships? Does it hurt to send them in very close to the deadline? I read somewhere that sending them in early shows initiative and that some banks recruit on a rolling basis and give preference to early applicants.
If this is the case, what is the trade off between an early application and a better resume? I ask because I may be able to add a pretty substantial entry on my resume that I think would make it a lot stronger. However, this would necessitate waiting a few weeks to submit.

For OCR I don't think it helps to apply early. Often times the school's system will just send all the resumes to the employer once the deadline passes so the employer may not even see/know that some applications were submitted early.
What about banks that don't recruit here through OCR like certain boutiques? Is there a preference there?

Some of the SA postings on my school's website have drops beginning now and ending in late January...I was wondering if they wait until February to start interviewing or if they'd just go ahead and grab people as the resumes come in.
Also, for "pre-select" jobs online, does that mean the company specifies a certain tacit GPA cutoff that your own career services screens for? Or does it not mean anything?
The interviews start at the same time for everyone - in late january/early feb. The only interviews that are being held in December are for students doing study abroad during spring
the pre-select option means that they provide a listt o your career services, and at a certain date, your career services will put up a list. It'll say something like "You werea pre-select for xyz bank." and then give you details. Otherwise, you could be an alternate. or, it'll say "You have not been pre-selected at this time. please continue submitting resumes"
This is a similar question that I want to ask. If resume drop is from between January 1st to February 1st, does it make a difference when during that time that you send in your resume?

If your school's career center has a resume drop then at the closing date, all the resumes go to the firm and are distributed for review. The received date of your resume is noted but doesn't really have any impact. Most firms are not on a rolling basis (unless you are a non-target school and applying through online or something).
I'm at a target...just to elaborate, there are some positions labeled "pre-select" with the typical Jan-Feb. start/end drop dates. But there are some other positions labeled "job postings" for BB/HF internships that have drop dates starting now and ending in Jan-Feb (for example, MS has a typical posting, but also a "job listing" for a SA in S&T). Anybody know what I'm talking about?
Job postings are generally that they will contact you individually. I think it works in that they review your resume when you send it in on a rolling basis. In those cases, they'll call you if they like you. If not, you might get a "no" 3 months later.
