PE internship at investment arm of insurance company vs. MM IB internship

Hi all,

I'm a college junior recruiting for PE and IB internships. I've received an offer as a private equity analyst at an investment arm of an insurance company. I was hoping someone could provide insight on how this opportunity might stack up against MM or boutique IB positions as far as experience, networking, exit ops, career progression etc. My understanding is limited but it seems like these kinds of firms don't hold as much weight as traditional PE firms on the street. Would I be wrong in that assumption and would I be a fool to take/pass up this opportunity? Pretty split here, any comments would be greatly appreciated.
