PE Interview for Junior Summer Internship
Hey guys...so I sent in an application to a midcap PE firm in ATL and did not think that they would pick me out, but I got an interview and was wondering if anyone has any idea what to expect. It is for a summer analyst program, but I am not too familiar with PE interviews, especially without any prior finance experience. I generally viewed PE as a long-term thing.
So does anyone have any idea what they may ask in a junior summer PE internship interview? Any help is appreciated.

I have a interview coming up with a middle market private equity firm for a sophomore summer internship. I am wondering what exactly to expect from this interview in terms of how technical it would be (similar to ib interview). Does anyone have an idea of what I should be expecting from an interview of this nature?

Private Equity SA Interview (Originally Posted: 11/17/2013)
Hey everyone,
I have an interview coming up this week for a middle market, growth equity PE firm. I am in my junior year and worked in IR for a similar type of firm last summer.
What type of questions will they ask for this type of role and what level of previous private equity knowledge do they expect coming from an undergrad? The description for the role mentions "building detailed financial models". Anyone who has gone through similar interviews please share your experience.
Thanks in advance
Anyone? Would appreciate any input that might be helpful, unfortunately there was not too much info on the WSO company database for this position. Thank you

I have an interview at a $2 Billion PE firm for a summer analyst position(undergrad) in NY. Any insight into what questions I should expect?
Thanks
LOL.....just use search function. If not look at what the fund focuses on and figure it out from there. If they seem like a fund focused on LBOs study for that. Shouldn't expect much if the interview is not in person. There shouldn't be any funds looking for interns at this point in the game especially out from where you are from which seems like SF. Not sure but gluck.
The PE firm is worth $2B? Which valuation methodologies are you utilizing ?
$2B AUM
PE Interview for SA (Originally Posted: 11/07/2011)
I have a first round interview with a PE firm in Chicago. This is for SA by the way. Tried to look through M&I and search function, but most interviews deal with interviews AFTER their banking analyst stint. So, does anyone know what to expect from a PE interview for SA? Similar to banking interviews?
depends how reputable and competitive the PE firm you are applying to is. if it's a pretty big fund, then i'd say you should expect around a 50-50 split between fit and technicals. expect basic questions like what the difference is between PE and HF. be articulate in current trends in PE, as well as recent deals you've read about. in terms of technicals, know the basics of an IB interview (particularly accounting and valuation methodologies). if it's a buyout fund, definitely know how to walk them through a basic LBO model.

HELLO EVERYONE------
I HAVE AN INTERVIEW TOMORROW WITH A TOP BUYOUT SHOP IN GREENWHICH. I HAVE STUDIED ALL OF THE BANKING TECHNICALS BUT I AM NOT SURE WHAT THIS PLACE WILL ASK.
WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THAT THEY PROBABLY EXPECT ME TO KNOW? (LBO MODELING?/ACTUAL MODELING?)
I MEAN, IT IS ONLY A SUMMER POSITION SO I DON'T THINK THEY EXPECT ME TO KNOW MUCH-- CORRECT?
SORRY FOR ALL CAPS, MY COMPUTER IS STUCK LIKE THIS.... : (
ALSO, I HAVE NO MODELING EXPERIENCE AT ALL BUT I HAVE TAKEN CLASSES ON EXCEL...
check our Company Database ...has interview insights for PE firms. not too many for summer analysts but if you look at what the associates / analysts are asked, could give you a good idea what to expect.
Good luck! Patrick
It's too late now to learn everything, but use the search function...there's a couple old threads about this/FT PE interviews from undergrad.
