PE Recruiting From Middle Market IB's

Hey all,

I'll soon be a first year at a MM investment bank. In terms of PE recruiting, I imagine it won't have as strong of a reputation as BB's and EB's, but I'm curious if anyone has any insight to what the process looks like for analysts at reputable MM banks.

It seems that most of the information I've been able to find regarding the process is specific to BB's and EB's and I'd like to get a sense of the extent to which this information applies to MM's / how the process will differ.

Thanks folks!

There will be some bigger "brand name" opportunities with the initial wave but obviously far fewer than if you were at a BB. Basically none of these opportunities will be from megafunds, but there are some great funds in the upper MM that recruit from MM banks. Then there's plenty of opportunities that pop up more ad hoc and a lot more referrals via senior bankers or other connections, so the timing can drag a bit, in part because these processes don't really have strict timing.
