PE Recruiting from West Coast IBD to NYC

Hi everyone,

I'm an incoming FT analyst to a BB IB analyst role in SF, originally from the East Coast, but wanted to check out the technology scene westbound after college and take a short break from NYC. I was wondering if anyone had insights about PE recruiting on the West Coast for a gig in NYC, and what the process would be like, especially due to the lack of physical presence in NYC during recruitment season.

Would I be at a significant disadvantage trying to find a role in a selective PE firm (MF, BB) on the East Coast? For those who have been successful, any tips or remarks about the process? Thanks again and really appreciate all the support from this forum!

Very curious to know about this too.

I've heard from people that firms that have both NYC and SF offices (i.e. KKR) may recruit for NYC positions and host the physical interviews in the SF office. I'm not entirely sure how true that is, and even if it is, I think very few MFs have very strong west + east coast offices.

Hopefully someone with experience responds here...
