PE recruiting -- meeting with headhunters / picking your path

Hello,
I am 1st yr ANL at bulge bracket just starting to recruit for PE. I have set up headhunter meetings for the month of December.
I have been hearing that it is very important to articulate my interests exactly to crush the first headhunter meeting, but I still do not know what exactly I want to do after my 2 years.

I know that I am interested in Technology/Media, and feel more drawn to growth equity / middle market buyout compared to mature, late-stage traditional PE.

While I am attracted by how Growth Equity works, I also do not want to be sourcing for most of my day.
Couple of questions:
1. Is it OK to go in front of headhunters and be honest with above concerns?
(e.g. Say something like " I am most attracted to middle-to late stage, growth investing such as growth equity/buyout or MM LBO hybrid in the technology or tech-related industries. ")
Or should I pick one path between Growth Equity vs. MM PE (LBO) and stick with it?

  1. Are there middle-ground funds in between growth equity / middle market PE? For example, a growth equity shop that does buyouts or vice versa.

Thank you.

Best,
