PE Recruiting - Recruitment might be heating up?

So there's one thread that says PE recruitment might be heating up soon but no one has posted on it in a week, and everything else is relatively silent... Does anyone have an idea as to whether the process is really starting or is that mostly rumors...?

If it is true that it's starting, is this for most funds, or just a subset? If it's not generally true, when should we likely be looking for the process to start?

A tonnnnn of funds already went and gave offers. The big wave is over, now it will be on a rolling basis for the smaller firms..

Do MM shops have structured recruiting cycles too or do they fill more based on need?

both... it depends on the shop...

My understanding was that the firms that went (and judging by the lists out) were mostly the Mega and Large MM funds but a lot of smaller funds still have not gone yet? It also seemed like regions went in-step (ie Boston all at once, West Coast all at once, etc.)?

Some firms on GoBuyside's list are not starting official Summer 2014 recruitment until later, which is odd.

Also, I know for a fact 4 large MMs that have agreed to hold of until a specified date. I keep getting recruiters buzzing me for summer 2013 positions, which annoys me because I am looking for summer 2014.

Anyone else have feedback or agree/disagree? I am in a small regional office so not many peers to compare to.

In the same boat as you but this seems to be my understanding as well. Pretty sure Louboutins is at a large fund so maybe that skews the perception a bit?

The "big wave" of Summer 2014 has already rolled. That said, you guys are also fairly accurate in your thinking that many smaller shops likely haven't gone, and there will be opportunities trickling in throughout the year

If you're at a firm like GS/MS where you cannot recruit until you are in your second year how does recruiting work? I would imagine that you still have access to the megafunds so do they safe a few spots for recruiting later on?

I interviewed plenty of MS kids. Didn't see as many from GS though. I guess it depends on your group, but if your group is strict about no recruiting and you didn't have the balls to sneak out then you're probably fucked

MS formally got rid of the policy a few weeks ago.

Awwwwww that's super cute that some kid threw monkey shit at me for providing accurate information. It's not like I interview for these types of positions or anything. Better go pray to the picture of Henry Kravis that you ripped out of a Forbes article...
