Peculiar Off-Cycle Situation
Question to those who went through off-cycle recruiting for PE:
What is the customary process for firm communication after the Final Round?
I ask since I did a final round a few weeks ago and the firm has gone radio silent since then. I followed twice through email and phone call but have yet to hear back from the firm in terms of where they stand in the process. As an note, I know was the first candidate for the final round but still this seems odd. I have no idea what to think about the process given how responsive the firm was prior rounds.
Curious to see responses to this situation...
Could take a week or 2. I had a case last yr when I had a "final round" and they said I'd have an answer the following week. I got a call 2 weeks later and they wanted me to go back in for 2 more rounds.
Would it not seem odd to have a radio silence in the intervening time if the firm shows a responsiveness in prior rounds or is that typical with off cycle PE recruiting?
I would send them a carrier pigeon, with a final hand written thank u note
Good idea. Can we train it to shit on their faces if it's a rejection?
Either they are slow to make decisions internally about the hire or they are waiting on another preferred candidate to accept. Nothing you can do at this point.
That is the conclusion I have come to at this point. Thanks for the sage point as that provides some clarity to keep pushing forward in the process.
Nothing you can do at this point. Stop bothering and let the process play itself out. Most likely they are negotiating or waiting for someone to accept. But strange things can happen during recruiting.
If you went through a recruiter, ping the recruiter. If not, nothing much you can do besides checking their website periodically to see if they hired someone else.
There was no recruiter involved as it was handled internally with efforts lead by VP for staffing the role.
What type of firm (size) is it? That can make a major difference in how quickly they can respond
IDK about other firms but my firm does not participate in the hiring rush, so interview schedules are more spread out. So while you may have had your final round, it may be the case that they haven't been able to line up a good slot for other candidates doing their final interviews even if it's a few weeks later.
That being said, the radio silence is weird, but I agree with the others - if you were one of their top choices, then you'd think they'd at least try to keep you engaged (even if you weren't, they should still give you some excuse to buy more time).
Understood. I accepted that given it is on smaller scale for MM PE and that team is really small, they emphasized being as thorough as possible in their process. I am quite surprised at the radio silence, but at this point at others have mentioned, there is not much I can do but continue to progress on in the recruiting path.
How did this turn out?
