1st round with Perella Weinberg
WSO has helped me get into ibanking before and I hope it can help me move up in banking again. This is for a lateral position in banking and not PE. I've read the previous threads on PWP but Perella is now a larger bank now - what has changed?
What key advice do you guys have? Any non-usual technical questions (curve-balls?) Thanks to all beforehand.
PWP is the Sandy Koufax of curveballs. They really stress accounting knowledge, so be prepared to break down the minutiae of the 3 statements. I have always liked the people I met from PWP, though. If you can get in, congrats.
Each person you interview is going to have different technicals that they'll ask you. There's no way to tell if they're going to stress accounting, valuation, fit, whatever. Just make sure that you are solid on the basics and you'll be fine. Good luck man.
Very reputable boutique.
had interviews there not so long ago know the accounting behind PIK interest (flowing thru 3 statements) know how incremental D&A will affect a multiple (i.e. if you expect an additional $10 of maintenance CapEx in Year 4, will your EV/EBITDA multiple increase or decrease) know how selling a product (i.e. booking $100) flows through the statements (sounds easy, but trips people up)
and of course all the basics (DCF, $10 of Depreciation, knowing applicable multiples, etc.)
Have you guys been asked any brainteasers?
Perella Weinberg Interview - Any info? (Originally Posted: 05/23/2010)
I have an interview coming up with Perella Weinberg. Any info/tips or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Have a friend (a top student and doing BB banking this Summer) who interviewed and said it was very technical. He also got the feeling they did not like non-target kids, but that was just the vibe he was getting from his Harvard grad interviewer.
for starters i would wear a tie, show up less than 15 minutes late, and avoid dropping the n bomb! good luck!

Pelbo, what position is that for? Isn't it kind of late for interviews?
Gekko21: Thanks. bankerspi314: This is for a lateral position
Any one else with any experience with Perella Weinberg?
had a superday (SA) this year....pretty technical, even got questions on restructuring/distressed debt, which was surprising (yeah, i know they do both restructuring and M&A...)
are they very selective? along the lines of top BBs/elite boutiques?
s22, That is brutal. How was the behavioral part of the interview?
BUMP
i think of PWP as more in line with other decent boutiques like hlhz. its not up to elite level yet, like evercore/bx/moelis/etc.

How are their interviews? Very tech im sure.. Any insight or tips.
Thx
Mostly behavioral at my school with 1 brainteaser.
pretty technical, nearly all my interviews asked in-depth valuation and accounting questions and one associate went real hard on the technicals, two brainteasers, mental math plus valuation

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone heard back regarding PWP first round decisions for SA advisory. They were supposed to let us know by the end of the week, but still no word yet. Good sign, bad sign or immaterial?
Thanks
did you get your 2nd round yet? Is it for NY or for SF?
I had 1st round with them on 2/5 and was offered a superday on the phone because the 2nd round in sf was actually the next day...
Not yet, it is this week. What was your 2nd round like?

I felt I connected with the interviewer but we'll see.
Hey guys... I have a superday with PWP tomorrow, and was wondering if you guys had any advice/counsel for me? I love perella and really wna knock this out

Have a 15 min phone interview with their London office coming up on Thursday any advise on the process and what questions I should expect? I would be most appreciative.
From a very reliable source - I've heard that they've filled their SA class, although this might only be in NY.
