I think that start working out should definitely help. That's the best way to transform bad energies and thoughts in peaceful ones, the most underestimated antidepressant in the world.
I workout consistently and frequently. The gym time is the highlight of my day. Alone time with music and pushing myself.
Everything else before and after feels as though I am on autopilot mode just waiting to hit the gym.
Had similar problems in academics. My advice is just continue and don't overthink. Sometimes just let it go. Enentually, you will back into your mental fit.

Take care of yourself, and make yourself the #1 priority. There is nothing wrong with seeing someone for mental health. There is nothing wrong with taking medication for mental health. We live in a world (and work in environments) with a stigma attached to therapists, psychiatrists, and medication. I once said I wanted to figure out things on my own and not see someone for help -- that was a mistake. If you think you need the help, find what works best for you.
With everything going on today, seeing a therapist or psych is simple and can be done through telehealth to help fit into our schedules. I hope you figure out the best route for yourself. Good luck!
