Periodicals?
i assume WSJ is a staple but are there other magazines or newspapers that consultants read specifically to better themselves or "stay sharp"?

The Economist is a great read for what is going on in the world.
I've heard people say Barron's is good for consultants, but I've never read it myself.
A subscription to The Economist is a must.
Personally, I prefer the FT to the WSJ, which has really gone downhill since Murdoch's acquisition.
Barrons is also pretty good.
McKinsey Quarterly is technically a periodical, most guys read that.
Financial Times.
Third the FT. WSJ has a lot of fluff. Compare both papers and the WSJ is nearly double in size with probably less than half the relevant content.
