Philly compensation
I am just starting a job at a philadelphia middle-market investment bank. Seeing that salary discussions are avoided at all costs at work, and that on compensation websites there are not many data points, I wanted to get your opinion on the following.
I know the intensity and the pay will not be as high as a NYC career, but what can I realistically expect, all-in, as I advance through analyst, associate, VP, and MD positions?
And finally, how does philly IB compare to PE or HF from a compensation perspective? I am trying to make the buy-side sell-side decision, and this topic will be one factor I consider.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I'll take any wild guesses/comments/suggestions
Well here is the thing. You have two factors making any salary guess complicated.
1) MM bank 2) Philly
Analyst level is going to be around 60K base with a bonus % based off that base amount. It is real hard to even throw this out since in Philly there are a couple tiers of MM banks. Some are busier than others, etc.
I think a couple hundred K base with sizable bonus is in the range for VP. MD's will make much more based on what they bring in.
PE is a hard question also since there are a variety of shops around here.
PM me, I know the philly market pretty well.
