I interviewed with MS LA and was asked a lot of technical and a lot about my resume. Since it's a phone interview I would be prepared for the general questions (Why MS/Why Investment banking) and know what is going on in the market
on the other hand...i had a phone interview with them last friday. i was asked two questions. #1, tell me about yourself. #2, tell me a time when you showed quantitative skills. that took me about 5-7 minutes into the interview, then she asked if i had any questions for her before she continued. she then basically talked to me for about 25 mins about her experiences at MS, etc...and finally told me that it was great talking to me and that shell get back to me. not sure if that's a rare case considering i already interviewed with their real estate group prior. still waiting to hear back...
i had two phone interviews with MS in HK. one consisted of the usual fit questions like why ibanking, why asia, why MS. then it went straight into brainteasers (which makes for awkward silence on the phone since you're trying to solve the problems). the second interviews was a combination of fit and technical. technical ones included "speak in chinese and sell me a stock", valuation, factors that drive m&a, etc
Ok,
So I had two interviews. The first interview was very easy. Three days later I had one more interview with two people, some technical questions (fin statements and DCF). It has been two days now, should I call? Superdays are in two weeks. I got the interview in the first place by calling/emailing/bugging MD 10 times before I got the interview.
That's odd. I had two first round phone interviews on Tuesday. One was with HR and the other was with an analyst. The only question I got that wasn't fit was an easy math question. No word back from them yet.

I have a phone interview with two people within DCM - a derivatives analyst and a coverage officer. Any idea what a coverage officer does? And what to expect in terms of bond math and technicals? This is for SA.
wait. when did you submit your application? Did you submit it online? How come you've already got the phone interview? I haven't finished my application yet :(

I'm convinced that the initial phone interview is nothing more than a screening to make sure you aren't a total doof.

MS do rolling recruitment, so they'll keep reviewing applications til the deadline closes. Best to get in as early as you can though.
