Pictures for dating apps

I just needed to ask this question so I turned to WSO lol, how pathetic. Anyway, I ended a long term relationship right before the pandemic started as I was moving to a new city. I feel like enough time has gone by and I am ready to finally start talking to women again. I figured the best way to start would be with one of the dating apps. Herein lies my problem: I don’t have any recent and accurate pictures of myself. Before the pandemic, I was really, really heavy and I have lost almost 100lbs since the beginning of the year and I don’t have any non-fatass pics. Also, I am in a new city where I haven’t really gotten to know anyone as the pandemic started as I moved in January. I have heard there are like professional dating app photographers and I am in a major city so I am sure I could find one, but has anyone done this or anything like this? I could take a bunch of selfies, but I feel like that’s not a good look. Any advice?

I've seen those sort of services on AirBnB. Professional photographers, they even tell you to take several outfits with you to change clothes

I don’t have any advice on the photos, but the professional shots feel like a good move given your situation, even though it’s objectively dweeby. I’d try to make them seem like you didn’t actually get professional photos taken because it would look a bit odd.

Mostly just wanted to say congrats on the weight loss, super impressive man!

You’re going to think I’m nuts.. but just go out in public in cool places and ask strangers to take a pic for you. I do/did it all the time especially during work trips where I was solo. “Hey man you mind taking a pic of me real quick, with the statue behind me?”. Now, it’s a total crapshoot whether they crop your head or feet completely off but it’s better than nothing.

just wanted to add - they may think it’s weird but who gives a fuck. They’re probably tourists  and will never ever see you again. Also easier to ask people who are already taking pics for someone else. From my experience - younger women are a lot more approachable and completely understand asking to take pics, and get better angles

There are steps to having professional looking photos and selfies.

1. Get good content - hit up the gym - get chiseled.

2. Take the picture correctly. If its a head shot, split the top 1/3 horizontal line on your eyes and the right or left 1/3 down the nose.

3. If there is any scenery, generally split the earth or ocean on top or bottom 1/3.

These are the steps to having professional photos that are attractive to the eye.

This photo actually has some issues - it should be rotated counter clockwise 2 degrees possibly and left vertical line to the left 1-2mm.
