Pimco Portfolio manager position in Newport CA

I am being offered a VP Portfolio Manager position at PIMCO. Pay is competitive and other benifits are allright too. But i have been doign soem research and i have see nothing but negative reviews about the company, the 10 to 12 hr shifts each day, the 'pin drop silence' and not talking to other colleagues besdies for work purposes, the stringent and autocratic leadership, and the over all image of the firm. As such, i was hoping I could get some feed back from you guys - someone who has or already works at PIMCO. I am a very Social guy and align my self with more modern/cooperative style of management. I am wondering if this place is the right fit for me.
Thanks.

congrats - that's a great opportunity. I would jump on it despite your concerns. PIMCO is a huge shop so not every group/team is going to fit into that stereotype. They actually have a pretty collegial culture relative to a lot of the east coast firms from what I can tell. Lots of cool/smart folks there, it's not just the cult of Bill Gross. They do work their ppl very hard from what I can tell, but i think comp should be best-in-class for you within a few years. Are you a ph.d. background?

hahaha. Yeah - things went down really quickly. And guess what - the offer was rescinded based on the shit that's going down there. But to be hoenst I am not too worried. I think it was a good thing... i'm not going to jump on a sinking ship or at least ship with a lot of holes in it. Thanks for all your input guys!
