Pissed off at current job, should i look for a new job or get my personal life in order?

I will keep it brief. So I am currently at a BB, working for a particularly horrible manager (in terms of attitude, work load and expectations).

I am sick and tired of this job.

There are times when I think i should just gtfo and quit, there are other times when i feel i have so little time for my own personal happiness that I shouldn't waste that time hitting recruiters (and perhaps do something that i enjoy)

I wanted to seek advice here:
1. Should I just devote all the time I do get outside of work to interview prep, outreach etc. Here i run the risk of totally burning out and demotivating myself even further.
2. or Should I try to somehow first fix the level of happiness in my life by focusing on things I love?

I feel I do not have time to do both so how should I go about it? What's the best way to go?

i"m young but have had similar experiences.

Not knowing how old you are or how long you've been with your current company makes it tougher to answer, but I would say stick it out if your stint has been short and the experience is worthwhile. Unless you feel like you could be fired or the experience is irrelevant to what you actually want, there is no reason to just up and quit.

Ask your manager for help and maybe the truthfulness will improve your relationship, or try to explore moving to a different division within the company to at least show you are trying to add value to the firm.

If none of that works, then focus on getting a job that fits your work-life desires a bit better, which means spending the time looking for jobs.

IMO, focusing on something you love should be done in perpetuity and it shouldn't come down to personal vs. professional happiness, which it sounds like you are trying to choose between. To get what you want, you will have to grind through a lot of B.S.

In my current role, I have been there for around 1.5 years.

There is a possibility of being fired anyway (deep restructuring program just announced for our department. Have seen friends get pink slips just a couple of weeks back)

Talking to manager wont work- this guy thinks he's the bomb, and we should be happy to even work for this guy.
