Pitch me an investment - Private Equity Interview

Hey everyone,

I am interviewing for a MM PE Analyst position. Based on Glassdoor interview comments, the firm typically likes to ask a question along the lines of pitch me an investment or what investment would you suggest our firm to look at.

I am really not sure how to answer this question. Yes, I know I should look at the portfolio of companies that the firm typically invests in. I saw it invests in MM tech/software and such, but how do I pick/find one? What should I describe about it and why? I read elsewhere that I should use CapitalIQ to get some financial data, but I do not come from a ibanking/finance background so I do not have access to that/do not know what metric I would highlight and where I would find them.

Any guidance/insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

hey, thanks for the response. the only issue i was having is the firm I was applying to is mainly involved in MM in the tech/software space. most of the companies they invest in are private and not super well known. thus, my issue was, I find companies that fit business models/category they invest in, but i have no idea in how to access hard numbers (ebidta, multiples, etc.) any advice there?
