Pitch Pitch Pitch
I'm at a middle of the road MM firm (think along the lines of Stifel) in the TMT group and all we do is pitch pitch pitch. Realistically, our group closes 2-3 MA deals a year but it seems like everyone is working crazy hard and late firing off pitches left and right to anyone who has a pulse. Also, the place has a group culture of working late (I.E. VP's working till 11 every night)
Is anyone have this same experience? Seems like a bad group.
I'm at a Similar bank and roommate is in same scenario. Pitches definitely happen alot, sometimes we shoot a pitch for a deal we may never win ( just to try and show up) but we still have solid deal flow other than the pitches. Roommate's firm definitely has solid dealflow as well. we also have directors who only pitch and getting staffed with them can be rough cuase they just cant land deals. PM me if you want to talk more specifics.
Would you try lateraling?
Lol I somehow remembered this from an old thread: "I know one MM TMT group practices what the analysts lovingly refer to as "fake-offs". If a senior hears of a bake off that they didn't get invited to, they'll have the juniors prepare a pitch book to send to the client anyway.
All the pain of a pitch book, with zero chance of it ever turning into a live deal."
This sounds absolutely brutal haha... What kind of sick, twisted, fucker does this?
