Pitching New Strategy to MM PM?

For a bit of background, I work as a mid level trader on a bigger book at one of the large MMs (one of Citadel/P72/Millennium/Exodus). I have a lot of goodwill with my PM, and he values my opinions on the strategies we currently run. Before my current role, I had a few years of experience trading different products/in a different way than the book I currently work at, but that is marginally related (vol arbitrage vs. RV in the same macro products). I see some opportunities in my old sector that I think are extremely attractive, but the strategy is very much outside of what we usually trade. I want to pitch some ideas to my PM, but the book has been doing quite well and when I hint at it he doesn't seem very open to new strategies - how should I go about this? Does anyone here have experience pitching ideas to a PM that doesn't specialize/have experience in that strategy? Do I have anything to lose by just bringing it up directly and seeing if he's more open to it?
