met a vet before who had no experience in finance, but he got a job in LevFin as an analyst at a BB. he was also a former seal officer and getting his EMBA...
from this text, your story doesn't really sell me on your interest in finance, specifically M&A. growing and merging companies fascinates everyone. i would really look into crafting a succinct narrative with a catchy story on what sparked your interest in finance and subsequently M&A.
look into JPM's MVIP program- they've got a great program, but don't know how much help it will be getting into M&A. it's extremely competitive and most guys i know from it get put on to S&T desks. if anything, it will help you get your foot in the door. plenty of vets do this and subsequently go on to do different things in finance, either at JPM or elsewhere.
there are probably other programs for banks like JPM's, but it's the one i'm most familiar with. i would also look into doing an MSF somewhere with a good program. there are remote MSFs that might work for you. i know of a vet who has enjoyed his program and is on his way to a career in finance.

Get an MBA.
Without a business degree or experience working in finance, it will be very difficult unless you make some amazing connections through networking. Business school is the most logical and clear path to IB at this point.

Yea that is fine, I’m no admissions expert but I think that unique background will give you a good shot at top programs. Most of the vets in my business school class only had military experience pre-MBA.
Also, if you are aiming for IB you don’t need to go to HBS or Stanford. You will have just as good of a shot going to any of the top 15 MBA programs when recruiting for banking.
There are a lot of jobs on Wall Street that involve math, problem solving and data analyses. Being an M&A analyst is not one of them. This job requires hard work, superb time management, attention to detail, maturity, etc.
