Please help me design a consumer growth equity case study

I need to administer a case study for a consumer business for a college student (helping some pre-professionally minded college students). I am not sure how high level to keep it. I am thinking about having them talk through things like

  • Thematic sourcing (e.g., map a market)
  • Retention metrics (e.g., verbally explain gross and net retention and then ask them to do some calculations, then provide some benchmarks)
  • Engagement metrics (email open rates, DAU:MAU, frequency of purchasing for certain business models... others? ideas?)
  • Something around referral networks and how consumer products "catch on" (don't personally measure this, not sure what would be appropriate here)
  • Market characteristics (TAM, growth, likelihood to adopt)

What else am I missing here?

CAC? Probably not a specific calculation but at least some thought process around how to acquire customers and what channels would be most effective/offer the highest ROI. Who is the product targeting and what are some adjacencies the product could extend into - falls into market characteristics, but I think it is a useful thought exercise for the students to think creatively/understand market dynamics.
